amazing.
i needed to schedule an appointment to get my annual physical, and when i called to do so, i requested that instead of seeing my regular male doctor for it, i’d prefer to see a female. the nurse said that would be fine, and she’d get it taken care of and call me back. this was tuesday.
wednesday another person calls me and says that my current doctor signed off on the papers to release me completely from his care, and i would see my new female doctor in september for my physical. i was like… what? what does that mean? you didn’t have any openings sooner than september? she said that she was told that i didn’t want to see my doctor anymore and wanted a whole new doctor, and therefore i was considered a new patient. no. that is not at all what i said. i said i wanted to see a female doctor for my annual physical, my current doctor is fine for everything else. ok, i guess we got incorrect information, let me take care of it and call you back.
today i get a call because they scheduled my appointment with a new doctor.
the new doctor is a man. who works in cool springs. for you out of towners, cool springs is a 30 minute drive from my work. my work is at a hospital. that appointment is for mid august.
i call that office and say, look, the whole point of me not seeing my current doctor is because i want to see a woman for this. otherwise i’d just see my doctor who is a 3 minute walk from my lab. can you fix this? yes, it turns out we have a cancellation for next monday morning at 100 oaks (a 5-10 minute drive from work) with a female doctor.
it only took 4 days and like 5 phone calls, but finally, i win at scheduling an appointment.
